Johannes Dengler, who was born in Traunstein in 1973, comes from a family of musicians.
He studied the French horn under Josef Crump, Karl Kolbinger, and Johannes Ritzkowsky.
He has been principal horn player of the Bavarian State Orchestra since 1993. He is especially active as a soloist and player of chamber music, particularly as a member of the "Munich Horn Trio", with Markus Wolf and Julian Riem. He often makes guest appearances with elite European orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra and the Santa Cecilia Orchestra in Rome.
In 1999 Johannes Dengler was awarded the Culture Prize of the city of Traunstein, and in 2004 he was awarded the honorary Bavarian title of "Kammervirtuoso".
